Our purpose

Our purpose is to breed horses in a natural way, in wide spaces, developing in good and healthy ways to compete in endurance races. We seek to be successful in breeding and that in the first qualifying steps, they reach their docile maturity, leading them to their maximum potential as athletes.

We want to accompany our customers in the buying process to encourage the natural connection between our horses and their future owners, seeking to satisfy their needs, in order for them to find their ideal horse, and thus obtain happiness from their purchase.

Our history

Our history

Pío Miguel Olascoaga Silveira founded the company in 1974 when he was very young.
He began his career running raids, a discipline in which the pair rides 90 to 115 kilometers in 2 stages, which takes place on gravel or asphalt roads. It is a discipline in which the horses are permanently assisted by a mobile helper that refreshes them. A caravan of vehicles is formed and the horses arrive at high speeds. This type of competition is traditional in Uruguay and especially in Zapicán, Lavalleja, place where Pío was born and grew up surrounded by horses, an essential companion to perform the tasks of a livestock farm.
He started his first herd in 1979, and from 1980 onwards the products of Harás Paso del Manzanero began to stand out in different competitions. Pío stood out as one of the best riders and trainers of the discipline, being national champion between 1983 and 1987.
Pío Juan Miguel Olascoaga Amaya, the oldest son of the family who already knew what it was to ride a horse at the age of five, was also national champion in 2000, the year in which the horse "Pinocho", son of "Loverán", managed to break the record in the city of Sarandí del Yí, a record that still stands today for speed in competition, with 31.204 km/. on average.
In 1998 Uruguay was invited to the Enduro World Championships in the Arab Emirates, a disciplinep very similar to the equestrian raid. Upon learning about the new discipline, they aimed to perfect us in it and transcend, from Uruguay, to the world.
Sitting in front of the stove of their establishment with Mr. Enrique Baliño, they were convinced that this country had everything to be a world leader in breeding, horse training and rider school, and that they were willing to be the best.
Thanks to the support and encouragement of this great friend from their childhood, they decided to put together a team to compete in a world championship.
In the year 2000 the first international Enduro date was held in the San Pedro Del Timote ranch, the stud farm attended with three horses, "Supermilenio", "El Pampa" and "Panadero", being the latter, son of "Loverán", the winner of the competition. The challenge was then to compete in the World Equestrian Games in Jeréz de la Frontera, Spain, in 2002.
There they competed with Pío Juan Miguel and Pedro Sosa, who had trained a lot on hard ground, since in Andalusia, it was said, rain is very sporadic at that time of the year. On the day of the World Cup it rained and although they qualified, they did not achieve what they had gone for.
So they stayed in Spain, went to a new competition in Badajoz, in which the best teams in the world would participate, and there Pío Juan Miguel met Sheik Mohammed Al Maktoum, sheikh of the monarchy that governs Dubai, who personally participated in the competition.

After a lucid
performance in the competition, "Supermilenio" was sold to them, becoming part of the Enduro elite.
Pío Juan Miguel also went to work as a rider in Dubai, at the stables of Sheik Mohammed Al Maktoum. The sold horse achieved excellent results all over Europe, being champion in Spain, Italy, Belgium and Germany, encouraging the arrival of many Uruguayans to work in the Arab Emirates and making the Enduro world set its eyes on Uruguay.
While Pío chose and trained horses for clients abroad, Pío Juan Miguel participated in races in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Germany, Turkemnistan, United States, Bahrain, Chile, New Zealand and Great Britain, in addition to Uruguay. Together with his brother Julio they managed to be placed in the first places in the FEI ranking, with the particularity of being first Julio in the junior ranking and Pio second in the senior ranking in the same year.
The Olascoaga Amaya brothers attended most of the Pan American and World Championships in the last 10 years. Pio Juan Miguel was world champion in France in 2007 and 2009 Pan American vice
champion in Uruguay. Julio Leandro was Uruguayan Young Rider Champion in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010 and National Champion Rider in 2008. Pio was the technical director of the Uruguayan national team from 2005 to 2009, with which he won 7 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals. Haras Paso del Manzanero, as a team, won the National Endurance Championship from 2009 to 2011 and a vice-championship in 2012.
Currently, the family formed Pío Endurance, which has a breeding center "Haras Paso del Manzanero" in Zapicán, in charge of Pedro Sosa. There, a herd of 120 wombs live freely with the full cycle cattle production, while in Soca there is "Loma Azul", a 30 acre meadow very close to the sea and with capacity for 60 horses, where the products already classified for enduro are prepared and
sold. Loma Azul offers training and quarantine services. In addition, the center trains its human resources, who have been inserted in the world equestrian labor market.
Pío Endurance breeds at “Haras Paso del Manzanero” arabian and anglo arabian horses with thoroughbred raid stallions or undisputed winners in equestrian raid, thus creating the perfect formula to obtain endurance horses, which are docile, healthy, strong and of great resistance.
Today we are grateful for Supermilenio, who was not the best horse we had, but the one that took us the farthest.
It is a reality that our horses win and are successful all over the world and that is a great joy, but also a great responsibility to continue breeding good and better horses to continue growing as a team and becoming more professional day by day.
We really enjoy and have passion for what we do, that is our way of life. tristique. Duis cursus, mi quis viverra ornare, eros dolor interdum nulla
